Area forecast discussion
National Weather Service northern Indiana
648 am EDT Fri Aug 23 2019

issued at 231 am EDT Fri Aug 23 2019

Dry conditions and below normal temperatures are expected through
this weekend. Low temperatures will drop into the 50s, with
afternoon highs in mid to upper 70s. Chances for rain will return
early next week.

Short term...(today through sunday)
issued at 231 am EDT Fri Aug 23 2019

No sensible weather concerns through the weekend as dry and
comfortable airmass settles in on the southern fringe of high
pressure. Lows will generally be in the 50s with afternoon highs
in the 70s.

Long term...(sunday night through thursday)
issued at 231 am EDT Fri Aug 23 2019

Ridging both aloft and at the surface will get shunted off to the
east early next week as northeast Pacific jet energy emerges into
the north-central US, and eventually the Great Lakes region. Lead
shortwave and impressive Theta-E advection surge brings increasing
chances for showers and perhaps a thunderstorm Monday into Monday
night, with chances continuing into Tuesday as height falls and
system cold front translate through the lower Great Lakes. Mainly
dry and seasonable conditions will then likely follow Post-frontal
into the middle of the week.

Aviation...(for the 12z tafs through 12z Saturday morning)
issued at 647 am EDT Fri Aug 23 2019

VFR flight conditions will prevail throughout northern Indiana
through the forecast period, and likely through the weekend, as
surface high pressure persists over the upper Great Lakes.
