little in the way of change to the forecast this afternoon. Models
remain consistent with a nearly-zonal progressive pattern through
the weekend followed by some amplification to the upper pattern as
an upper level ridge builds over the West Coast then migrates
slowly eastward. Mild temperatures are expected under the zonal
regime through Sunday. The amplification of the flow early next
week in combination with a robust short wave trough moving across
the Central Plains will usher in the next cold air mass with
temperatures reverting to below normal Monday and Tuesday. This
will be followed by some moderation in temperatures as the
de-amplifying upper ridge moves over the plains. Will continue to
run with a dry forecast through the seven day period. The
possible exception remains Sunday night as the upper trough that
will unlock the cold air moves across southwestern Kansas, the
Oklahoma Panhandle, and/or the Texas Panhandle. Model trends
continue a subtle shift northward with this low-amplitude feature
which does not favor precipitation across the forecast area.
