Area forecast discussion National Weather Service Missoula Montana 320 am MDT Sat may 25 2013 Discussion...today will start off rather nice with higher clouds early and warmer temperatures this afternoon. The next shortwave, in the southwesterly flow aloft, will arrive to north central Idaho and southwest Montana this afternoon. Showers with isolated thunderstorms will develop as the wave passes. The best chance for thunderstorm placement will be from near Salmon, Idaho and into west central Montana between Missoula and Butte. Showers will linger into the late evening but in most cases will dissipate after sunset. A general trough will maintain for the rest of the weekend and into next week. Cloud cover will increase from the west early Sunday as the next wave moves into Idaho. Rain will increase through the morning beginning in western Idaho followed by western Montana in afternoon. The trend of showers and isolated thunderstorms is also expected on both Monday and Tuesday with near normal temperatures. The rest of the week looks unstable with enough moisture in the air to fire off showers and afternoon thunderstorms each day. Wednesday looks to be the most unstable with the potential for some strong thunderstorms. && Aviation...today looks to be a copy of Friday as the upper level trough remains over the region. The morning looks to be rather quite while after some day time heating, some showers and a thunderstorm will be developing. && Mso watches/warnings/advisories... Montana...none. Idaho...none. && $$ Follow US on facebook and twitter! Https://www.Facebook.Com/US.Nationalweatherservice.Missoula.Gov https://www.Twitter.Com/nwsmissoula
