Watches & Warnings

Special Statement
Issued: 2:49 PM CST Dec. 10, 2017 – National Weather Service

Near red flag conditions possible Monday afternoon...

Winds will increase for Monday, with 20 ft winds 10-15 mph likely
during the afternoon hours. These winds will combine with
temperatures in the 60s to low 70s and resulting humidity levels
dropping below 30 percent for most areas. While red flag
conditions may not be met, or will be isolated given current
forecast data, the wildfire danger will be higher than seen in
previous days. This will allow fuel moisture levels to continue to
drop, especially given the significant deficit in rainfall over
the past several weeks.

The wildfire danger remains at moderate to high for all of
Arkansas, with several counties under burn bans. The wildfire
danger may only get worse over time with no rainfall expected
through the end of the week.

Given this scenario, people are advised to use precautions with
outdoor burning, and follow local County burn bans already in
place. If wildfires are observed, report them to the local fire
departments or the Arkansas forestry commission at
1-800-468-8834.
