Flood Warning
Issued: 9:01 AM CDT Apr. 29, 2017 – National Weather Service

The Flood Warning continues for
the Arkansas River at Pendleton.
* From Tuesday morning until further notice... or until the warning is
cancelled.
* At 8:15 am Saturday the stage was 28.6 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 31.0 feet.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by Tuesday morning and continue
to rise to near 32.0 feet by Wednesday early afternoon.
* Impacts at 31.0 feet... residences inside the levee just upstream
of the Pendleton bridge are affected.
* Impacts at 32.0 feet... area access roads on right descending bank
upstream and downstream of the bridge are flooded. Property inside
the levee in the pendeleton area is threatened and should be
removed.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Mississippi River near Arkansas City
* from Wednesday may 10 to Wednesday may 17.
* At 7:00 PM Friday the stage was 26.3 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 37.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will rise above flood stage Wednesday may 10
and will continue to rise to near 37.5 feet Saturday may 13.
* Flood history... this crest compares to a previous crest of 38.2 feet
on Jul 21 2015.
* Impact... at 37.0 feet... the low Silt plain in front of Arkansas City
inside the levee system begins to flood along with widespread
bottomland flooding at Huntington Point Mississippi.
* Impact... at 35.0 feet... the Road to Donaldson Point is cut off.

... Lake Wind Advisory now in effect from 9 am this morning to
9 PM CDT Sunday...

* event... gusty south winds.

* Areas affected... much of the eastern half of Arkansas.

* Timing... advisory winds will likely begin within a few hours
after sunrise Saturday morning.

* Winds... sustained winds of 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30
mph possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A lake Wind Advisory indicates that winds will cause rough chop
on area lakes and rivers. Small boats will be especially prone to
capsizing.
