Dense Fog Advisory
Issued: 11:23 PM PST Jan. 15, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Dense fog advisory in effect until 11 am PST Tuesday...

The National Weather Service in Hanford has issued a dense fog
advisory, which is in effect until 11 am PST Tuesday.

* Visibilities... a 1/4 mile or less and as low as 100 feet in
some areas.

* Location... dense fog is expected to cover a large portion of the
San Joaquin Valley from Merced and Los Banos southward to Kern
County near Delano.

* Impacts... travel delays. Chp is pacing along Interstate 5.

Dense fog is the number one killer of weather related fatalities
in the San Joaquin Valley during the winter season. When the fog
is dense, drive with common sense! That means motorists should
slow down and keep safe braking distance between your car and the
car in front of you. Avoid passing other cars, especially on two
Lane roads. Make sure your low beam headlights are turned on.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A dense fog advisory means visibilities will frequently be
reduced to less than one quarter mile. If driving, slow down, use
your headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.
