Winter Storm Warning
Issued: 2:53 PM MDT Apr. 19, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 9 PM this evening
to 6 am MDT Saturday above 10000 feet...

* what... heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 10 to 15
inches, with localized amounts up to 18 inches, are expected.

* Where... northwest San Juan Mountains and southwest San Juan

* When... from 9 PM this evening to 6 am MDT Saturday.

* Additional details... plan on difficult travel conditions,
including during the morning commute on Friday, over mountain
passes, especially Red Mountain, Coal Bank and molas passes. Be
prepared for significant reductions in visibility at times.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for snow means severe winter weather
conditions will make travel very hazardous or impossible. If you
must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your
vehicle in case of an emergency. The latest Road conditions for

Fire Weather Warning

for wind and low relative humidity for fire weather zone
295 below 8000 feet...

* affected area... in Colorado, fire weather zone 295 southwest
Colorado upper east forecast area below 8000 feet.

* Winds... south 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

* Relative humidity... 10 to 15 percent.

* Impacts... new fire starts may be difficult or impossible to
control due to fast rates of spread. Outdoor burning is
strongly discouraged.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
