Watches & Warnings

Flood Watch / Flood Statement
Issued: 4:22 PM EDT Oct. 14, 2019 – National Weather Service

... Coastal flood advisory in effect...

* coastal flooding... saltwater flooding will continue to affect
the Upper and Middle Keys, with total water levels reaching
nearly two feet above mean sea level, or between 1.0 and 1.3
feet above the predicted tide levels.

* Timing... for the Middle Keys, the impacts from saltwater
flooding will be greatest at the times of high tide, which will
occur between midnight and 4 am, and also late Tuesday
afternoon. Across the Upper Keys, water levels will stay high,
with little to no relief at low tide.

* Impacts... saltwater flooding of low elevation streets and lots
is expected. Low-lying storm drains will overflow and some
seawalls and docks will be overtopped. Boaters can expect less
clearance under fixed bridges. Motorists should remember that
persistent puddles around the times of high tide are almost
certain to contain saltwater.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal flood advisory indicates that above normal tides will
generate moderate flooding of low lying areas.
