... Flash Flood Watch now in effect until 7 PM CDT this evening...

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* portions of north central Illinois and northeast Illinois,
including the following areas, in north central Illinois, La
Salle, Lee, Ogle, and Winnebago. In northeast Illinois,
Grundy.

* Until 7 PM CDT this evening

* rain, heavy at times, will end by early this evening, tapering
to scattered showers or even just ending completely in places.
Before that time, the rain may be heavy enough on wet ground to
result in localized flash flooding.

* The heavy rainfall will lead to additional river rises,
potentially sharp rises, into the upcoming week, especially
across the Des Plaines, Fox, Pecatonica, and Rock River
basins.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.

the Rock River at Dixon, or from Castle Rock State Park near Oregon
downstream to Lee County line.
* Until Friday afternoon.
* At 915 am Sunday the stage was 12.4 feet.
* Action stage is 13.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will rise to near 14.3 feet by Tuesday
afternoon.
