... Wind Advisory remains in effect from 1 PM this afternoon to
7 PM CDT this evening...

* winds... south 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.

* Timing... the strongest winds are expected in the afternoon.

* Impacts... high winds may affect high profile vehicles on
highways. Loose soil will be picked up and will blow across
roadways possibly restricting visibility for short periods of
time.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of at least 30 mph
and/or wind gusts over 45 mph are expected. Winds this strong
can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
Use extra caution.

In 1967, hurricane Beulah drenched Brownsville Texas with
12.19 inches of rain in 24 hours to establish a record
for the coastal city. Three days later, on the 20th,
Beulah would make landfall at the mouth of the Rio Grande
where a 135 mph gust was reported by a ship in port.
