The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of east central Kentucky and
southeast Kentucky, including the following counties, in east
central Kentucky, Bath, Elliott, Fleming, Menifee, Montgomery,
and Rowan. In southeast Kentucky, Morgan.

* Until midnight EDT tonight.

* Thunderstorms containing very heavy rainfall will bring the
potential for flash flooding to the area through this evening.

* Flash flooding of small streams and creeks will be possible,
especially in low lying and poor drainage areas.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.

... An area of strong thunderstorms will affect northern Montgomery...
Bath... Fleming and northwestern Rowan counties...

At 912 PM EDT, strong thunderstorms were clustered over Sherburne, or
9 miles southwest of Flemingsburg, moving southeast at 40 mph.

Winds in excess of 40 mph are possible with this storm.

Locations impacted include...
Mount Sterling, Flemingsburg, Owingsville, Marshall, Sharpsburg, Salt
Lick, Ramey, Pecks Ridge, Wyoming, Peasticks, Olympia Springs, Flat
Creek, Odessa, Hilda, Bourbon furnace, pebble, Sharkey, Muses Mills,
Crooks and Wallingford.
