Special Statement
Issued: 1:59 AM EST Jan. 18, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Areas of black ice developing through sunrise today...

As skies clear out and temperatures fall below freezing early
this morning, areas of black ice will develop where slushy snow
or puddles freeze over especially on untreated roadways and
sidewalks.

Motorists and pedestrians should watch out for the potentially
slippery surfaces when venturing out of doors and onto area
roadways during the early morning hours through around sunrise
today.

Temperatures may not break the freezing mark today across many
inland locations, so use caution even later in the day for the
possibility of black ice on roads and sidewalks.
