Watches & Warnings

Special Statement
Issued: 3:10 PM CDT May. 24, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Small hail possible with isolated thunderstorms in southeast
Missouri and extreme southwest Kentucky this afternoon...

A southward moving upper level disturbance will continue spur the
development of scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms this
afternoon over parts of southeast Missouri and extreme southwest
Kentucky this afternoon.

Given the very cold air aloft associated with this weather
disturbance, some of the stronger rain showers and isolated
thunderstorms may produce brief, but small, hail at times.

At 302 PM CDT, a public report of one quarter to one half inch
hail was noted near Ellsinore, along Highway f.

As the sun gradually sets this afternoon and into the early
evening, the coverage and intensity of the showers and isolated
thunderstorms should diminish quickly.

Most of the rain activity should completely dissipate by the
middle of the evening across the area.
