Flood Warning
Issued: 8:44 PM CDT Apr. 17, 2019 – National Weather Service


The Flood Warning continues for
the Pearl River at Jackson
* until further notice.
* At 7:30 PM Wednesday the stage was 30.5 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 28.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 32.0 feet early
Friday afternoon.
* Impact... at 32.0 feet... water begins to affect businesses on south
president and south farish streets. Sidney street is flooded.
* Impact... at 31.0 feet... water begins to impact approaches to
additional homes and businesses in the Byram area.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Big Black River near Bovina
* until further notice.
* At 7:15 PM Wednesday the stage was 39.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 28.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 39.5 feet early
Friday afternoon.
* Impact... at 39.5 feet... many houses and camps just upstream of old
Highway 80 bridge on Hinds County side of river are surrounded by
water.

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* portions of southeast Arkansas, northeast Louisiana and
Mississippi, including the following areas in southeast
Arkansas, Ashley and Chicot. In northeast Louisiana, East
Carroll, Madison la, Morehouse, Richland and West Carroll. In
Mississippi, Attala, Bolivar, Carroll, Choctaw, Clarke, Clay,
Copiah, Covington, Forrest, Grenada, Hinds, Holmes, Humphreys,
Issaquena, Jasper, Jefferson Davis, Jones, Kemper, Lamar,
Lauderdale, Lawrence, Leake, Leflore, Lincoln, Lowndes,
Madison MS, Marion, Montgomery, Neshoba, Newton, Noxubee,
Oktibbeha, Rankin, Scott, Sharkey, Simpson, Smith, Sunflower,
Warren, Washington, Webster, Winston and Yazoo.

* Through this evening.

* Widespread heavy rainfall of 2 to 4 inches with locally higher
amounts possible in a few hours.

* This rainfall will occur over saturated soils and ongoing
areal flooding in locations.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
