Watches & Warnings

Excessive Heat Warning
Issued: 6:51 PM EDT Jul. 20, 2019 – National Weather Service

... Excessive heat warning in effect from 6 am Sunday to 6 am EDT
Monday...

The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued an excessive
heat warning, which is in effect from 6 am Sunday to 6 am EDT
Monday.

* Heat index values... up to 108 due to temperatures in the upper
90s, and dewpoints in the mid 70s.

* Timing... the most dangerous times will be from 11 am to 8 PM.
It will not cool Sunday night below 80 over many areas until 4
or 5 in the morning.

* Impacts... the heat and humidity may cause heat stress during
outdoor exertion or extended exposure.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

An excessive heat warning means that a prolonged period of
dangerously hot temperatures will occur. The combination of hot
temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a dangerous
situation in which heat illnesses are likely. Drink plenty of
fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and
check up on relatives and neighbors.
