Flash Flood Watch, Areal Flood Advisory

... Flash Flood Watch in effect through late tonight...

The National Weather Service in Las Vegas has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of northwest Arizona, southeast
California, and Nevada, including the following areas, in
northwest Arizona, Lake havasu and Fort Mohave, Lake Mead
National Recreation Area, northwest deserts, and northwest
plateau. In southeast California, Cadiz basin, eastern Mojave
Desert, morongo basin, San Bernardino County-upper Colorado
River valley, and western Mojave Desert. In Nevada, Esmeralda
and central Nye County, Lake Mead National Recreation Area,
Las Vegas Valley, Lincoln County, northeast Clark County,
Sheep Range, southern Clark County, Spring Mountains-Red Rock
Canyon, and western Clark and southern Nye County.

* Through late tonight

* any thunderstorm that develops today and tonight will be capable
of producing intense rainfall which could lead to flash flooding
in the watch area. Flooding of normally dry washes, low water
crossings, and poorly drained intersections are likely.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

If you are in the watch area... you should closely monitor weather
forecasts and be prepared to take immediate action should heavy
rain and flooding occur or a Flash Flood Warning is issued.

... The flood advisory remains in effect until 645 am PDT for north
central Clark County...

At 337 am PDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain had ended over
northern Clark County. However, runoff from earlier rainfall will
still be flowing along the California Wash towards Moapa for the
next several hours. This may be causing water to be flowing over low
water crossings.

Some locations that may experience flooding include...
Valley of Fire Highway southeast of Interstate 15, the California
Wash between Las Vegas and Moapa, and other rural roads north of
Valley of Fire State Park.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Moapa for the next several hours. This may be causing water to be

roads near Moapa.
