Flood Warning, Flash Flood Warning
Issued: 7:45 PM CST Feb. 25, 2018 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has issued a

* Flood Warning for
the Neches River near town Bluff.
* Until further notice... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 7:00 PM Sunday the stage was 66.9 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 68.0 feet.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by tonight and continue to rise
to near 69.4 feet by tomorrow early afternoon.
* Impact... at stages near 70.0 feet... flooding can be expected
around Barlow Lake and Brushy Lake with some roads being cutoff and
some of the lowest properties near the river begin to flood.
* Impact... at stages near 65.0 feet... areas around Barlow Lake and
Brushy Lake begin to flood.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Neches River at Neches River saltwater barrier.
* Until further notice... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 7:15 PM Sunday the stage was 4.6 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 4.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 6.7 feet by
Wednesday morning then begin falling.
* Impact... at stages near 7.0 feet... water begins to go over bigner
Road into the saltwater barrier. Water also cuts off most access to
the Four Oaks ranch Road downstream of Four Oaks boat launch.
* Impact... at stages near 5.0 feet... water is about two feet over
portions of Four Oaks ranch Road.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Neches River near Evadale.
* Until further notice... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 7:00 PM Sunday the stage was 17.7 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 17.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 18.1 feet by
tomorrow early afternoon then begin falling.
* Impact... at stages near 17.0 feet... minor flooding expected with
the boat ramps at Evadale possibly becoming inaccessible. Flooding
can be expected in the low-lying areas of the Lakeview community in
Orange County.
* Impact... at stages near 13.0 feet... the river is at bankfull
stage.

The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Vernon Parish in west central Louisiana...
Tyler County in southeastern Texas...
Newton County in southeastern Texas...
Jasper County in southeastern Texas...

* until 815 PM CST

* at 443 PM CST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain across the warned
area. Up to three inches of rain have already fallen. Flash
flooding is expected to begin shortly.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Jasper, Leesville, Woodville, Newton, Kirbyville, Rosepine,
Anacoco, Colmesneil, Chester, Rockland, town Bluff, Toledo Bend
dam, Ebenezer, Fred, Bon Weir, Burkeville, Fort Polk, Warren,
Slagle and call.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Keep children away from storm drains, culverts, creeks and streams.
Water levels can rise rapidly and sweep children away.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
