... Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect from 6 PM this evening
to 10 am EST Thursday...

* what... very cold wind chills expected. Expect wind chills to
range from 5 above zero to 10 below zero.

* Where... portions of southwest and west central Virginia and
northwest North Carolina.

* When... from 6 PM this evening to 10 am EST Thursday.

* Additional details... the cold wind chills will cause frostbite
in as little as 30 minutes to exposed skin.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Chill Advisory means that cold air and the wind will
combine to create low wind chills. Frost bite and hypothermia can
occur if precautions are not taken. Make sure you wear a hat and
gloves.

... Snow to taper off but slick travel to persist through this
evening...

Snow is going to become light and taper off by 2pm, but expect
another inch or so, especially close to the Blue Ridge south of
Roanoke to Sparta. Temperatures in the teens and 20s will keep
area roads slick with snow. Even the treated roads may have melted
snow turn back to ice.

Additionally, winds will be picking up some this afternoon with
wind chills dropping into the single digits to teens.

If you are planning to travel, prepare accordingly by including
extra layers of clothing and extra blankets. Make sure your
gasoline tank is full before you leave your destination. Reduce
speed, leave extra distance between vehicles, and be especially
careful braking.
