... Very gusty winds expected as rain ends...

Surface observations across parts of northern Illinois and in
southwest Wisconsin have shown a brief period of gusty winds over
the past hour behind the rain. Locations can expect wind gusts of
40 to 50 mph as showers come to an end over the next several hours.

expected. Conditions are life threatening.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Structural currents form along piers where longshore currents and
wave action flow into the structure. Structural currents can
sweep you out into deeper water along the pier structure.

Roughly 20 percent of those that fall in cold water die in the
first minute of immersion due to cold water shock. Always wear a
life Vest and consider cold water protection gear. Cold water
can kill.
