Weather Underground Forecast for Thursday, May 23, 2013. A strong, large storm will continue making its way through the eastern third of the country on Thursday, producing more, active weather east of the Mississippi Valley. While the active weather is not likely to produce the severe thunderstorms that have greeted the country over the past several days, scattered thunderstorms will be likely, especially in the Southeast. In addition, moderate to occasionally heavy rain will move through the Northeast, followed by cool showers in the Ohio Valley and Upper Midwest.

Meanwhile, some moisture pushing into the Southern Plains could possibly instigate some severe thunderstorms in northern Texas and western Oklahoma. Due to this possibility, the Storm Prediction Center has issued a slight risk of severe weather in the area for Thursday. This means residents in the area should prepare as if severe weather will develop, making any necessary preparations to protect life and property.

Also, a seasonably strong low pressure system will linger over the Pacific Northwest today, allowing wet weather to continue in the area. While rain will be the overwhelming precipitation due to this storm, a few snow showers will be possible in the higher elevations of the Cascades.

Additionally, rain will also spread as far east as central Montana.

The Northeast will rise into the 70s and 80s, while the Southeast will see temperatures in the 80s and 90s. The Southern Plains will rise into the 80s and 90s, while the Southwest will see similar temperatures.

Friday...

The National Weather Service in La Crosse has issued a frost
advisory... which is in effect from midnight tonight to 7 am CDT
Friday.

* Temperatures overnight will fall into the lower 30s... and
perhaps even briefly into the upper 20s.

* These cold temperatures will lead to widespread frost
formation. If not covered... this frost could cause damage to
sensitive vegetation... including early season Flowers or
garden vegetable plants.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A frost advisory means that frost is possible. Sensitive outdoor
plants may be killed or damaged if left uncovered.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Trempealeau River at Dodge.
* Until Saturday morning... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 9:00 am Thursday the stage was 10.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 9.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue to fall... dropping below flood
stage on Friday.
* Impact... at 9.5 feet... the entrance Road to the Trempealeau National
Wildlife Refuge is flooded.
