Tropical Update - Invest 93L Could Become Alberto this Weekend - May 19, 2012

Man, it's been a while since I made one of these. Anyways...

Today is May 19, 2012, I'm watching an area of low pressure off the coast of the Carolina's, designated Invest 93L, which the NHC has given 50% chance of developing within the next 48 hours

93L is currently acquiring tropical characteristics and if it gets named, it will likely be tropical, rather than subtropical. Convection has been consistent with 93L and if this continues throughout the day, we should see Tropical Storm Alberto as early as tonight, or tomorrow. 93L is currently dealing with moderate 20 knot wind shear coming from the south west and a bit of dry air. This will keep 93L from strengthening quickly.

I do think 93L has a very good shot at being the first named storm of the 2012 Hurricane season. I'd give in a solid 80% chance at developing into a tropical cyclone within its lifetime, but there 93L still needs to produce convection, which it the only big concern I have for 93L.

Thanks for reading. Since it's been a while since I made a blog, I would like some suggestions on what I could improve on. =)

Thanks.

I don't really see a problem with it sustaining convection since, unlike 92L, it is over warm waters.

Thanks for stopping by TropicalAnalyst.

I didn't figure that would be a problem, but that is the difference between 93L becoming a tropical cyclone.
