Hey, Dad.

The office is almost completely deserted
today. A few of the folks that came in
this morning have already left.

Since Christmas is on a Sunday, the office
is closed on Monday. We'll be back to work
on Tuesday.

We do not get a day off for New Years, even
though it is on a Sunday.

Hubby only gets Christmas Day and New Years Day
off. Mainly because they are both on Sunday,
which is his usual day off, anyway.

I may go over to see our cousin in the morning,
if she is home. Being Christmas Eve, they
may have plans. We had Christmas dinner with
them all last year but Hubby wants to stay
home this time.

I didn't think to look for the possum this
morning. It's probably around, somewhere.
There's lots of fast food places around,
with their dumpters. Like a lunch buffet!

Happy Christmas Eve, Dad.

I was able to leave work yesterday
about 1:30. The office was like a
ghost town. As I was walking out,
I spied our director manning the
reception desk. I doubt that she'd
have much to do; I'll bet all the
patients had other plans yesterday.

No visit to our cousin today. I
had been calling but her phone was
busy. She wound up calling me
about 7:30.

She said all the granddaughters were
home from school and she was going to
be busy today. She'll be going to
Mass this evening. Her daughter and
their family may go with her.

Her son and his family will be having
Christmas over at their Folly Beach
house. All the girls are bringing
their boyfriends, so it will be a
pretty good crowd.

Our cousin said she would be having
dinner tomorrow with her daughter and
their family. She wasn't sure if it
would be at her house or her daughter's.

I suggested a visit Monday but she says
with the girls home from school, she's
not sure what their plans will be. I'll
check with her tomorrow evening and see.

If she's free, good. If not, we'll get
back to our Sat visits next weekend.

There's a whole flock of little myrtle
warblers outside this morning. I stepped
out back to take the clothespins out and
spotted some fluttering out the corner of
my eye. At first, I thought it was the
local sparrows. A second glance told me
they were too small to be sparrows. I still
couldn't get a good look.

It wasn't until I was back inside and
looking out the front door, that I could
tell what they were. There were several
drinking at the birdbath.

I've got clothes washing to do, some
dusting and picking up and only one or
two small errands to run. I want some
tomatoes and cukes for dinner tomorrow.

We'll have ham, butter beans and rice
and macaroni pie. The tomatoes and cukes.

I don't have rolls or anything for dessert
yet.

Our main Christmas gifts to each other will
be a new microwave and a mattress/box
spring set. Both of which have yet to be
purchased, since I've been watching the
paper for a sale.

Also, a new floor lamp for the living room,
which was a bit unexpected. The old one
died earlier this week. Hubby got off work
much earlier than usual yesterday and went
out to buy a new one. He had it all put
together and in place by the time I got
home.

I was going to look for one today or Monday
but he couldn't wait, I suppose. He doesn't
like the overhead light and the lamp by my
chair isn't bright enough to use alone.

The stand is nice but I'm not too enthused
by the dark chocolate colored shade. Eh,
well... I can always replace the shade
later on but for now, it'll do.

Guess I'd better check that load of clothes
and see if they're ready to go out.

Love and (((HUGS)))

Hi, Dad.

Happy day after Christmas.

I'm sorry I didn't get on here
yesterday to say "Merry Christmas."

I didn't even cut my computer on
yesterday.

I got up, we opened a couple of
small personal gifts, read the paper,
and then got started on our dinner.

I wanted to have it earlier than I
usually do on Sundays. I put the
ham in the oven about 10 and got busy
with the the rest of it.
We ate about quarter of 2.

We watched movies and TV most of the
day. Hubby's mom had gone to Charlotte
to her daughter's house. Johnny called
you and his brothers.

He headed back to work this morning. I
have today off and am going to run over
to Jackie's in a few minutes to take her
little amarrylis. She said her daughter
and grandaughter are coming over today
but she wasn't sure what time.

She said she had a nice Christmas. Her
son and his family were having their's at
the Folly Beach house but came over to
her house about 1:00 for about an hour,
to visit and exchange gifts. Her daughter
fixed dinner at her house. They had shrimp
creole instead of the usual holiday spread.

I hope you and "L" had a nice day yesterday.

I'm looking forward to coming up later on
next month.

Gotta go. I need to get showered and dressed
and out the door.

Love and (((HUGS)))

Hi, Dad,

Am a bit late with lunch today.

I had a nice visit with out cousin
yesterday.

She was really pleased with her
amarrylis. I got it set up on her
kitchen table. It is in a big round
vase with black river rocks to support
the bulb. I put a little water in the
bottom and showed her what level to
keep the water filled to. You're not
supposed to sit the bulb down in the
water but just above the water level.

She said she's looking forward to
watching it sprout and bloom. It is
viable bulb; it had already started to
poke green shoots up. I had kept it dry
and under cover in the front bedroom to
inhibit growth. I didn't want it to
bud out and bloom before I got it to her.

She wanted me to stay and have lunch
with her, so I did. She had cooked a
small turkey Christmas Day before her
family came over. I shudder to think
about her trying to lift that thing into
the oven and back out, without dropping
it or hurting herself. I wish she'd
waited to let her daughter do it.

She said she wanted to have some turkey
for sandwiches. That's what we had for
lunch.

She gave me a bottle of Liebfraumilch, a
lovely Charleston calendar and both a little
bit of money for Hubby and me.

I had also taken her a bird calendar but she
already had several, so I returned home with
it. It was one of several that had come in
the mail from various charities urging me to
send them money. I'll probably take them all
in to work and give them away. I still have
the cat calendar that "L" left for me the last
time I was up. I'll use that one at my desk.

It is really yucky here today. Not cold but
raining and windy. Traffic is still light, as
school is out and a lot of people are off from
work.

It's supposed to get rather cold tonight;
possibly as low as 32 but it will warm back
up again for the rest of the week.

Hope you're having a good day, Dad.

Love you.

Hi, Dad.

Kinda busy today. Taking a quick bite of lunch,
before getting back to it.

I saw a pair of hawks soaring over the house
late yesterday. Probably red tails but I
really couldn't see them that well. One
flew up into the pine tree at the corner of
our street and Wappoo for a little while.

I haven't seen any of the little myrtle
warblers the last day or two. They've
probably been out there; I just haven't
been here or looked out the window at the
right time.

It's sunny and cool today. I was wrong
about the temps last night. It is tonight
that it will drop down to 32F. I still
haven't gotten my pop up greenhouse up.
I'll have to try to get it done before dark.

I should have done it Monday but just never
got around to it.

Talk to you later.

Hi, Dad.

I just realized that your membership here
still needs to be renewed. I think today
is the last day. I wasn't able to renew it
when I was up the last time because it
wasn't time yet.

I'll have to sign you off up there and
sign on as you down here to renew your
'no ads' membership.

So, when you get on the computer tomorrow,
you'll have to log back in.

You'll see 'sign in' up at the top. Click
on that. It will take you to another screen.
Enter your email address (it will show you a
drop down list as you start typeing). Just be
sure to pick the address that doesn't have
a 't' in "westley".

Then, enter your password. It is all lower
case except for the B's.

I have your sign on and password written down
on a piece of paper under some stuff just
to the right of your mouse.

If you get stuck, email me or call Aunt "C"
and have her email me.

I can mail you screen prints showing you how,
if you need them.

Busy day here. It's nice outside, though.

Ok, Dad.

I've got your membership renewed.

I just hope you can get yourself
signed back in or remember how to
read your blog and mine, without
being signed in.

Hi, Dad.

I hope you were able to get yourself
signed back on today.

I'm afraid you're going to have to do
it again. I meant to put you up a new
entry last night, when I renewed your
membership. I totally forgot until
just now.

It's lovely weather here today. I will
have to get my greenhouse up this weekend
and get my plants in there with some
straw bedding of some type. Either
regular straw or pine straw. It helps
to insulate everything.

We're looking at a hard freeze Tuesday
night, so this weekend is the deadline.

I'd brought my staghorn fern inside night
before last, as it was supposed to drop
down to 32. I don't think it did, though.

Anyhoo, late yesterday I picked up the fern
to take it back out when I realized I had a
little hitchhiker. A baby anole. The
little fella wasn't even 2 inches long.
Before I could get the fern outside, he
leaped off. I had to prop the storm door
open and start shoving the couch aside.
Luckily, he was on the floor underneath
the couch. I managed to get him shooed
out the door.

I reckon he thought he had it made for the '
winter. A nice warm place. But he would
have starved to death. There is nothing
inside for him to eat.

Hi, Dad.

Pros, thanks for wishing Dad "Happy
New Year."

WU was down yesterday morning, so I
couldn't log on or redo your blog.
I'll try to do that later today, so
you will have to sign back in, after.

Had a nice visit with our cousin
yesterday morning. Her niece, "K", was
down from Rock Hill.

I hadn't seen "K" in several years. She's
been here for visits but is in and out
of town quickly. I've just never been
able to catch her.

Frequently, when she's down, she goes out
to shop or sightsee.

While I was there, our cousin's son, "M",
popped in to see everyone.

We had chicken salad sandwiches
together for lunch. "M" and I left shortly
after.

I came home, checked the cat (see my blog
for details) and started laundry. Got
several load on the line, then headed to
Walmart. Our cousin had given me some
money for Christmas, so bought a nice
thistle feeder like yours, a new dish
drain and drain mat and a new cutting
board.

Got gas, came home, checked the cat, got a
bite to eat and settled in to watch TV.
Nodded off in my chair and didn't wake up
until 12:15. Said, "Happy New Year, Rabbit,
rabbit, rabbit," and went to bed.

(You remember Mama always said that if you
said "Rabbit" three times, first thing,
on the first of the month, before you said
anything else, you'd have good
luck all month long? In England, they
say "White rabbits" three times, for luck.
I guess Mama's family's version originated
from the English version.)

I've still got some laundry to finish
up.

We did buy a mattress and box spring set
but it has not been delivered yet. They
were supposed to do it Friday but were
backlogged on deliveries or something.

Thanks to you, we'll soon be
sleeping better. I applied your Christmas
gift as part of the payment on the set. It
wasn't that our old mattress was all that
bad but that old spring had had it. Rather
than just getting a new box spring, we got
the set. We'll put the old mattress on the
bed in the front room and toss that old
mattress. That bed still has the old springs,
though. They must be 60-70 years old.

Have no idea what to do for dinner today.
I may have to run to the store, if I
can't find anything in the freezer to
fix. I didn't think about dinner, while
I was in Walmart. I could have picked
something up.

Well, time to get that laundry going.

Love and (((HUGS))) and Happy New Year!

Good morning, Dad!

Sunny and cool this morning. It will get
COLD tonight. And for the next three
days/nights. It get back up to almost 70F
the end of the week. Talk about roller
coaster weather...

Well, as you can see, I didn't get
your new entry up yesterday.

I'll have to do it this afternoon.

I really hope they bring that mattress
and box spring set today. I'd like
to get all of that here, set up and the
old set out of here.

I'll have to get the greenhouse up. Didn't
do it yesterday, like I planned.

I finished up the laundry, made a run to
Piggly Wiggly and cooked dinner. We had
hot Italian sausage, rice, field peas and
collards.

If you've seen my new blog, you know we
have a new addition to the family: a white
and orange cat. Unnamed, as yet.

I was not planning on getting another pet
for a while yet. It's been a bit nice,
not having the responsibility but, at the
same time, I've missed my kitties.

I also went to Big Lots and Kmart yesterday,
looking for a scratching post. They must
have sold like hotcakes for Christmas. I
didn't find anything except those big
kitty 'condos'. I don't have room for
something like that. I just want a simple
scratching post to forestall him developing
a habit of using the furniture.

I guess I'd better get myself showered and
dressed. Can't have the delivery guys
showing up with me still in me jammies and
my hair all disheveled. It might scare them
off!
