SUBJECT: Category One Typhoon In Sea South of Okinawa

At 15:00 PM JST, Tropical Storm Leepi (994 hPa) near 22.0N 125.7E has 10 minute sustained winds of 40 knots with gusts of 60 knots. The cyclone is reported as moving north at 10 knots.

Tropical Storm "EMONG" has maintained its strength and continues to move in a northward direction

At 10:00 AM PhST, Tropical Storm Emong [LEEPI] (994 hPa) located at 21.3N 126.2E or 400 km east of Basco, Batanes has 10 minute sustained winds of 40 knots with gusts up to 50 knots. The cyclone is reported as moving north at 10 knots.

Additional Information
==========================
Estimated rainfall within the 600 km diameter of the tropical storm is from 5-15 mm per hour (moderate to heavy).

Tropical Storm "EMONG" is not expected to make landfall to any part of the country. However, it will continue to enhance the Southwest Monsoon which will bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms over the western sections of Luzon and Visayas and light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms over the rest of the country.

Fishermen specially those using small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the Northern and Eastern Seaboards of Luzon and Western Seaboard of southern Luzon due to big waves generated by Tropical Storm "EMONG".

The public and the disaster coordinating councils concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 11 p.m. today.
