Flooding Continues Along the Rio Grande
Posted by: Dr. Jeff Masters, 8:52 AM GMT on July 10, 2010 +4
Hi everybody, Dr. Rob Carver filling in for Jeff while he's on vacation.

Things have quieted down in the tropics. No invests are active, and the tropical waves at sea don't have many thunderstorms associated with them. However, the moisture associated with Alex and TD Two is still bring widespread showers to Mexico/Texas which is contributing to flooding alon the Rio Grande. Here are several videos documenting the troubles along the Rio Grande.

Finally, here's a story about relief efforts in northern Mexico for villages cutoff by flood damaged roads and bridges.

Next update
Jeff should be back on Monday. Have a good weekend.

You guys should work for the NOLA tourism board. Or maybe write a pamphlet: the epicurean's guide to New Orleans!

Pat, I've been watching the videos, and I haven't seen the first part (flex adapter?) get lowered yet. The robots were fanning some oil away to briefly expose the center 'riser' (production) pipe. Another robot retrieved what looked like a hydraulic socket wrench. I thought that meant they wouel be bolting it on soon, but still nothing. I'll keep watching...

Chicklet! Civilization is good for you. I didn't fight my way up the evolutionary food chain to eat rabbit chow. Where does that fit in Maslow's hierarchy of needs? Here's your ordermam (presents tray) Eggs Benedict with fried oysters and crawfish tails. Side of hashbrowns, and fig toast. A double tobasco bloody-mary, with Ketel-0ne, lime and spiced beans. Just call your waiter when you're ready for your second B-mary. If that doesn't set the world straight for you this morning then book the next flight to the BVI. (BTW Nice poem, thanks.)

The cat is sleeping on the carpet in a spot of sun through the office window. All is right with the world for now.

Hey Bordo!!

It is already 93 here in Denton. I need to mow the yard after the monsoons we had, but it is too muggy outside.

I am inside just watching the tropics and waiting for everything to break loose.

84 F ?, if it gets to 75 F in my house thats too hot for me. I usually keep it at 74 ish. Though my stepson keeps turning it down so before you know its 69 F in here and I am freezing my butt off lol. I am in NE FL.

My son is thankfully living his own wonderful life. His mother's day card said, 'Thanks for kicking me out of the house so I could marry the woman of my dreams.'
Once he became a man I knew there had to be another great woman in his life!
(I mean great for him...)
And she is; anyway, better log off before I get kicked off! Have a great day, everyone.

A lot of flow rate and pressure readings have to be done before they Lower it.

If the Back Pressure were to build under it..

They could damage and lose the well casing big time.

So a Lot depends on the next 48 to come

Based off the 12Z GFS runs...both operational and parallel...I guess July is a quiet time in the Atlantic. Great news for getting the oil-volcano taken care of. No northern GOM threats or any threat to the US of A through July 27th.

iam very concearned about the new cap and the increase pressure it will create on the BLOWOUT PREVENTER once its place over it there could be a bigger nightmare to come
they been shakin and rattling that thing since april 26 lets hope it can work out for the best but i fear more problems when that pressure is increased on the preventer from the new cap

Calculated.
Three fans on tank trump ice I think.
Speaking of fish tank.
We removed the glass tops.
Put open small grid plastic on top.
Like the stuff under some florescent lights and installed fans.
Works wonders for keeping down temp but you have to add alot of RO water daily.

Last I checked it was Homestead back in 92 by a Cat 5 Andrew not Miami. Andrew was a small storm gator so you probably didn't get Cat 5 winds. Best to evac to a shelter prior to a direct hit from a Major or move inland to an acquaintance if you have one. I'm not in an "evac zone" but I am less than 3 miles inland.

Last I checked homestead falls under the Miami-Dade Coutny homerule charter making it part of Miami so yes. I live in West Kendall off 137th near the zoo I know what we got.

It amazes me that anyone knowing they were staring down a cat 5 direct hit- would have to be told they should evacuate. Common sense should kick in at that point or at the very least, self preservation.

That is our dilemna Pat. We live on one of the Intracoastal islands in Lauderdale. I have impact glass, new accordian shutters on the entire house, a full built in generator and the house is solid. We are afraid if we leave, we will be worse off than staying. My generator runs full air and all electrical appliances. During Wilma, we were out 3 weeks and fed the whole neighborhood, but still a Cat 4 or 5 changes the situation.

JB thinks the next two weeks will be favorable...here's a portion from his blog

In any case the MJO is doing as I described for this season... staying on one side of the scale that favors the atlantic basin in octants 8-3. Recently it ran back into no mans land, but that is what we will see this summer. The forecast is for the pattern to get more favorable over the coming weeks. Alex developed while it was octant 2 and the increase in activity around the se Pacific and southwest atlantic basin was during that time. Though there is nothing apparent now, the forecasted MJO is more favorable in the coming weeks
