I am hysterical, some are comfortable, and guess who is bearable!
U betcha..
You guys should work for the NOLA tourism board. Or maybe write a pamphlet: the epicurean's guide to New Orleans!
From the folks at SPC concerning the SE US:
...SERN U.S...
SCTD STRONG DIURNAL STORMS MAY ONCE AGAIN FORM OVER PARTS OF THE
SERN U.S. TODAY IN ZONE OF HIGH PW ALONG SRN EDGE OF STRONGER WNWLY
UPR FLOW. MID LVL TEMPERATURES WILL BE RELATIVELY WARM /AROUND -5C
AT 500 MB/. BUT STEEP LOW LVL LAPSE RATES MAY ENHANCE DOWNDRAFT
POTENTIAL AND FOSTER A FEW MARGINALLY SVR WIND GUSTS GIVEN HIGH PW.

afterall..it is NOLA.

Chicklet! Civilization is good for you. I didn't fight my way up the evolutionary food chain to eat rabbit chow. Where does that fit in Maslow's hierarchy of needs? Here's your ordermam (presents tray) Eggs Benedict with fried oysters and crawfish tails. Side of hashbrowns, and fig toast. A double tobasco bloody-mary, with Ketel-0ne, lime and spiced beans. Just call your waiter when you're ready for your second B-mary. If that doesn't set the world straight for you this morning then book the next flight to the BVI. (BTW Nice poem, thanks.)
The cat is sleeping on the carpet in a spot of sun through the office window. All is right with the world for now.
It is already 93 here in Denton. I need to mow the yard after the monsoons we had, but it is too muggy outside.
I am inside just watching the tropics and waiting for everything to break loose.
My son is thankfully living his own wonderful life. His mother's day card said, 'Thanks for kicking me out of the house so I could marry the woman of my dreams.'
Once he became a man I knew there had to be another great woman in his life!
(I mean great for him...)
And she is; anyway, better log off before I get kicked off! Have a great day, everyone.
The Package coming down is static ATM..here
finally the "Transition Spool" is in view
and things might be going in the "right direction"
for a change.
We need a lil luck the next few days and weeks.
Keep on posting the updates Patrap. I don;t even have to check anywhere else to see what is really going on!
Been 22 years since I went SCUBA diving..
Should make a interesting entry as well.
Leave early when told to evacuate,
if staying..for a lesser storm..go to a Certified shelter.
Bring fully charged laptop as well.
Im not in an evacuation area. I would never be told to evacuate. This is Florida there is nowhere to evacuate too. So shelter then?

A lot of flow rate and pressure readings have to be done before they Lower it.
If the Back Pressure were to build under it..
They could damage and lose the well casing big time.
So a Lot depends on the next 48 to come
Everyone is in a Evac Zone.
Those who think they arent..are gonna stay for a Cat-5?
Good Luck..and keep the magic marker handy.
Chicklit?
Can I make you my official carbon offset????

oops edit the ROV source:
Boa Deep C - ROV1
sure, though calculate for the bottles of frozen ice water that have to go into the fishtank several times a day...

I have stayed for a cat 5. My Miami house was built very well. But I understand your point.
We are getting slammed here in Hernando county FL. with heavy rain and T+L! Dark as night outside.

Three fans on tank trump ice I think.
Speaking of fish tank.
We removed the glass tops.
Put open small grid plastic on top.
Like the stuff under some florescent lights and installed fans.
Works wonders for keeping down temp but you have to add alot of RO water daily.
Miami was hit by a Cat-5 ?
Always best to avoid the aftereffects of a Major unless one has the necessary stores, fuel, gen and Window A/C for the Heat after.
Last I checked it was Homestead back in 92 by a Cat 5 Andrew not Miami. Andrew was a small storm gator so you probably didn't get Cat 5 winds. Best to evac to a shelter prior to a direct hit from a Major or move inland to an acquaintance if you have one. I'm not in an "evac zone" but I am less than 3 miles inland.

Last I checked homestead falls under the Miami-Dade Coutny homerule charter making it part of Miami so yes. I live in West Kendall off 137th near the zoo I know what we got.

Miami and NOLA are different all of Miami-Dade county is "Miami"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miami-Dade_county_law_and_government
That said I lived in Kendall so yes Cat-5
Speaking of Andrew I was looking for one of those wind graphics that showed the wind field as it came into Homestead fl.
Does anyone have one tucked away they can share?
Miami and NOLA are different all of Miami-Dade county is "Miami"
Understatement of the decade easily..
It amazes me that anyone knowing they were staring down a cat 5 direct hit- would have to be told they should evacuate. Common sense should kick in at that point or at the very least, self preservation.
No one diminished your Katrina experience down down play my Andrew experience. You were not there I was.
whats with the hate pal?
Me thinks you are a tad off on skew.
pfffth
That is our dilemna Pat. We live on one of the Intracoastal islands in Lauderdale. I have impact glass, new accordian shutters on the entire house, a full built in generator and the house is solid. We are afraid if we leave, we will be worse off than staying. My generator runs full air and all electrical appliances. During Wilma, we were out 3 weeks and fed the whole neighborhood, but still a Cat 4 or 5 changes the situation.
Hate?
I think your a tad mistaken.
You said Miami chica..
Not Kendall.
Im well aware of what occurred there as I was there in 92.
Post storm with Relief...Sept 92.
Permanent poof for the ill advised "gig".
if your so up on me..remember this.
.."Calmaity Knows NO borders, only mens minds and maps do"..
In any case the MJO is doing as I described for this season... staying on one side of the scale that favors the atlantic basin in octants 8-3. Recently it ran back into no mans land, but that is what we will see this summer. The forecast is for the pattern to get more favorable over the coming weeks. Alex developed while it was octant 2 and the increase in activity around the se Pacific and southwest atlantic basin was during that time. Though there is nothing apparent now, the forecasted MJO is more favorable in the coming weeks
