One of the main features of Denali National Park in Alaska are the sled dog teams they have onsite. During the winter months, rangers patrol the far reaches of the park using the dog sleds. Every year, the retire several dogs, and choose one of the females to breed and have puppies to replace them. Last year, they started having a puppy cam trained on the kennel where the puppies were growing up. I snagged the cam for the blog, and quickly it became one of the most popular cams ever!

I recently found out the new puppy cam will go online in May! Being that it's already May, I've kinda waited to see if they were going to bring the new cam online this week so I can put it on the blog, but so far, no puppies!

Therefore, I'm using a sister cam to the puppy cam as a filler until the puppy cam goes online. The Railroad Depot cam is a very good cam in its own right, it's just not as cute! :)

Ylee: I've missed a few ferries myself but my favorite story on that topic was the guy who saw the ferry a few feet from the dock and ran his hardest and leaped. With
the help of other passengers he made it. Once he was safely aboard the ferry then proceeded to dock.
I saw some young people playing on the Newton Lake Basketball Half Court a while ago. Took out the street map (paper) of Istanbul but I can not find any district called Enka nor can I identify the bridge from the entry ramps but I bet I went over it anyway. Most of our driving lost in that town the traffic was moving pretty fast. I would have been happy to get stuck in a traffic jam at points so I could look at the map. Dunno about the Moab but it looks like dust or smoke to me.

Hi, Briar! This may explain the poor visibility at Moab:

... High Wind Warning remains in effect until 10 PM MDT this
evening...

* timing... the strongest wind speeds are expected early this
evening.

* Winds... south to southwest winds 30 to 40 mph with peak gusts
to 60 mph or greater.

* Visibility... visibility may be reduced to a few miles in
blowing dust or blowing sand.

* Impacts... drivers of high-profile vehicles and motorcycles
should be alert to the danger of these winds. Individuals
planning outdoor activities should take precautions. It is
recommended that loose objects such as patio furniture and
trash cans be secured.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected
or occurring.

People... especially those with respiratory illnesses... heart
disease... the elderly... and children are encouraged to stay
indoors and avoid prolonged outdoor exercise or heavy exertion
due to wind-blown dust.

Briar, Part 2: I'm not sure about the speed of my connection here at work, but it's somewhat faster than the 1.5 mps I have at home! The problem with me isn't the speed of the connection, but the speed of the computer! It takes a long time for my computer to process the pages going back and forth, so if I load them once, it's better for me! Some blogs, like Skyepony's and Finn's will just make IE6 lock up!

Bud looks a lot more foreboding in the cam than the NHC has made him out to be!

ycd, I think Enka is not a place, but a sponsor of the cam! Have you tried Google Earth?

Good morning! Looks like a slow day on the blogs so far, which means most folks are out enjoying their lives instead of being stuck at work! :)

Another hot one today, with a forecast high of 93, although at 9AM local it's already 84!

Today starts work on the new blog: The timing on finishing it depends a lot on when the sled dog puppy cam comes online.

Hi, Alley! I see that you got the cfeeder cam up on your blog! Good job!

Good Morning!
Slept in. Still feels nice outside though. Very very windy. Am waiting for the other half to wake up before I go play in the yard. The cockatoo and corgi will raise cain when I go out the door. Little creeps want everyone awake. Currently typing with squirt bottle at hand.

Morning Ylee:
Not nice in Nice just now.
I did go for a stroll around Istanbul but could not pick the cam site. Then I spent some time in the Moab. Watching P.Vallarta and Bud was another reason to keep an eye on you. Geary said there was about .5 inches of rain there.

Looks like clouds and rain have taken over most of the cams! Milos and Veracruz are nice, though!

Sounds like your pets are trying to throw their weight around, GG!:) How dare you go outside! :)

I wish I had Google Earth here, so I could put up an additional graphic showing the cam's location, ycd! I think Bud evaporated when it hit Mexico, I haven't heard of any mudslides or such!

Grill you nust have got up before the chickens to get those photos! I take it the coffee was working for you? :)

Go Marco!

Good morning Ylee. Have a great Monday. Late this morning putting out food for the kitties and is it ever stifling out. High humidity and its aleady 70F. Oh we are in for it today...Gotta take trash out later but otherwise I won't be leaving the confines of my AC house.

Good morning! Another warm one in store here, temps going back up in the 90s today!

According to the Denali NP Twitter feed, the puppy cam will go online tomorrow! There's also new puppy pics, and they have a utube video, too!

Done, and done, Rob! :)

Sounds like here, Alley! Broke a sweat just walking to my department this morning!

G'morning. It is hot out today. Will be many a/c related events today. No dog park for Roxie, perhaps Petsmart. Hvae to get extra hamster water bottles for Syd. He bends the metal openings around the ball bearing and they start to leak. Then he undoes the fittings and tosses them to the ground.
Back to Home Depot for longer worm gear and zipties.

The dang bird is a bleeping mechanic.

Syd, the manic mechanic! ;-)

Are the zipties for the water bottle, or Syd? :)

Time to get serious, and start scanning for US cams!

Any other time, the new cam that I found would've been a #1 with a bullet, but I've already commited that spot to the puppy cam!

I may be able to get this blog done tomorrow night! We shall see!

Beautiful mountain view in Alaska today:)

Happy Tuesday - Out to lunch today with an old friend. Lots of gossip to catch up on!

Good morning Ylee, starting off the day with showers. Even got to sleep in until 6:30 today...Aleister was out on the porch waiting for his breakfast this morning. He is a cute young grey with white spats and chest with a dashing white mustache. Cute little bugger about the same age as Smudgie. Usually the two are hanging out together in the early morning waiting for me to put out their food.

Storms off and on this morning then I guess it will turn sunny for the most part although cooler temps will now prevail thanks to a wonderful cold front going through. Sure looking forward to turning off the AC for a couple of weeks.

Have a great day dear one. Try not to work too hard. If you get a chance, check out the cam links I added yesterday. Some really cool ones.

Good morning Ylee.
I broke down yesterday and talked with the eve troughers. When they get a chance they'll come and do the 20 feet that I told them not to do. It's a good thing they live just down the street from me. and can make the trough in there yard and walk it over. No set up costs.
Enjoy your day.

Hey we got some unexpected and very welcome rain.
The worm gear is to hold the bottle. Did'nt have a large enough one before so put two smaller ones together. He figured out how to take them apart.
The zip ties are basically bird toys. He likes to work at twisting it around until he gets to the square head where it joins. That I guess gives a satisfying snap as it breaks apart.

Good evening! Lots of dark clouds here, but unlike places 50 miles to the east which got several inches of rain, all we got was a few sprinkles! :( At least it will be cooler tomorrow!

The puppy cam is online! Time for a new blog! Tonight promises to be slow, so I should be able to knock it out! :)

Hi, Alley! I'll try to have the puppy cam live on the new blog by morning! I don't expect too much out of the puppies in the beginning, as they are still sleeping a lot!

GG, glad you got some rain! Maybe you can take Syd to work and have them put him on payroll! He sounds smarter than some of the mechanics here, lol! I know he's smarter than my wife's ex, lololol!

Hi, Tony! Any way you can save money is a good thing!
