I am making the assumption that we will hit 100 degrees again today (no doubt it will), and that will put us at 100 degrees 10 of the past 12 days, and the two days we did not hit that mark were 98.3 and 99.8.
The high during that period was 107.8, according to the HORIZON weather station. The NWS says four of the hottest five temps recorded since 1948 in Celina were in a five-day stretch back at the start of this blitzkrieg.
As for precipitation, we had a half-inch rain here last week when other parts of the county had as much as two inches-plus. About mid-day the day after the rain fell, you couldn't tell anything had happened.
Weathermen calling for lower temps, higher humidity, and better chances of rain tomorrow and Tuesday. Hope they are right.
Must say it again, though: we could be having wildfires and destructive storms. Some people have encountered true tragedy, not just hardship.
