Watches & Warnings

Fire Weather Warning
Issued: 7:58 AM MDT Sep. 20, 2019 – National Weather Service

... Red flag warning in effect from noon today to 9 PM MDT this
evening for wind, low relative humidity and dry fuels for fire
weather zones 203 and 292...

The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a red
flag warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in
effect from noon today to 9 PM MDT this evening.

* Affected area... in Colorado, fire weather zone 203 lower
Colorado River and fire weather zone 292 North Fork forecast
area.

* Winds... southwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.

* Relative humidity... 10 to 15 percent.

* Impacts... conditions will be favorable for the rapid ignition
and spread of fires. Open burning is strongly discouraged.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
