Watches & Warnings

Excessive Heat Warning
Issued: 2:53 PM CDT Jul. 16, 2019 – National Weather Service

... Excessive heat warning in effect from noon Wednesday to 8 PM
CDT Saturday...

The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued an
excessive heat warning, which is in effect from noon Wednesday to
8 PM CDT Saturday. The excessive heat watch is no longer in
effect.

* Temperature... highs of 93 to 96 with heat index values of 103 to
108 are expected Wednesday through Saturday.

* Impacts... a prolonged period of hot weather will increase the
risk of heat related illness, including heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. The very Young, the elderly, and those without access
to air conditioning will be especially vulnerable.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

An excessive heat warning means that a prolonged period of
dangerously hot temperatures will occur. The combination of hot
temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a dangerous
situation in which heat illnesses are likely. Drink plenty of
fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and
check up on relatives and neighbors.
