Watches & Warnings

Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 4:15 AM CDT Sep. 20, 2019 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch now in effect through this evening...

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* a portion of southeast Texas... including the following
counties... Brazoria islands... Chambers... coastal Brazoria...
coastal Galveston... coastal Harris... Fort Bend... Galveston
Island and Bolivar Peninsula... Grimes... inland Brazoria...
inland Galveston... inland Harris... Montgomery... northern
Liberty... Polk... San Jacinto... southern Liberty... Trinity...
Walker and Waller.

* Through this evening

* the remnants of tropical depression Imelda should continue to
drift slowly northeast this morning as extremely warm and moist
air continues to advect over southeast Texas. The potential for
scattered showers and thunderstorms should develop east of I-45
in the morning hours before shifting west of I-45 by the
afternoon. Given the very saturated grounds and watersheds, it
would not take much rain to exacerbate these conditions once
again.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize
the dangers of floods and flash floods. If flash flooding is
observed... act quickly. Move up to escape flood waters. Do not
stay in areas subject to flooding when water begins rising.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
