Beach Hazard Statement
Issued: 11:00 AM PDT Aug. 25, 2019 – National Weather Service

... Beach hazards statement remains in effect through Tuesday
morning...

* hazards... a southeast swell from former Tropical Storm Ivo
will bring elevated surf and dangerous rip currents to south
facing beaches of Los Angeles and Ventura counties through
early Tuesday. Surf on exposed south facing beaches is
expected to be between 4 and 6 feet.

* Potential impacts... increased risk for dangerous rip currents
and for ocean drowning.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A beach hazards statement is issued when threats such as rip
currents... longshore currents... sneaker waves and other hazards
create life-threatening conditions in the surf zone. Swim near a
lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't
swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following
the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or
wave for help.
