Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 9:09 AM AKDT Aug. 25, 2019 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Anchorage has extended the

* flood advisory for...
the snow Glacier dammed lake has released a large volume of water
into the snow river and Kenai River/lake system. Water levels on
the Kenai River have crested at Cooper Landing and will continue
to drop today. Levels are expected to be below minor flood stage
by Monday morning at the Cooper Landing gage.

* Until 1115 PM akdt Sunday.

* At 909 am akdt, minor flooding continued in low lying areas above
Skilak Lake and will abate over the next couple of days.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A flood advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.

Dense Smoke Advisory
Issued: 9:52 AM AKDT Aug. 25, 2019 – National Weather Service

... Dense smoke advisory now in effect until 1 PM akdt this
afternoon for the interior Kenai Peninsula...

* location... interior Kenai Peninsula, including the Sterling
Highway corridor from Sterling to Cooper Landing.

* Smoke... smoke from the Swan Lake fire will reduce visibilities
to one quarter mile or less at times.

* Timing... smoke will be the most dense before noon on Sunday.

* Impacts... travel may be difficult due to low visibility.
Persons with respiratory problems may have difficulty
breathing when outside. For more information on air quality,
please visit www.Dec.Alaska.Gov.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A dense smoke advisory means widespread fires will create smoke,
limiting visibilities. If driving, slow down, use your
headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you in case a
