The National Weather Service in Huntsville Alabama has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for...
south central Lauderdale County in northwestern Alabama...
east central Colbert County in northwestern Alabama...

* until 1100 PM CDT.

* At 653 PM CDT, emergency management reported widespread flash
flooding ongoing across the Florence and Muscle Shoals Metro area.
Six to eight inches of rain have already fallen in the last six
hours. Extremely dangerous flash flooding is already occurring and
additional rainfall is expected tonight.

This is a flash flood emergency for Florence and Muscle Shoals
Metro area. This is a particularly dangerous situation. Seek higher
ground now!

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Florence, Muscle Shoals, Sheffield, Tuscumbia, Killen, St. Florian,
Underwood-Petersville, northwest Alabama regional Airport and Ford
City.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Move to higher ground now. This is an extremely dangerous and
life-threatening situation. Do not attempt to travel unless you are
fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles. Please stay off roads if you live in these
areas.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

The National Weather Service in Huntsville Alabama has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
southwestern Lauderdale County in northwestern Alabama...
northwestern Colbert County in northwestern Alabama...

* until 900 PM CDT.

* At 556 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across locations around Cherokee. Two to three inches
of rainfall has already fallen with locally higher amounts. Flash
flooding is expected to begin shortly.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Cherokee, Red Rock, Malone, Pride Landing, Mt Hester, Margerum,
Allsboro, Riverton, Oakland and Barton.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.
If you are in the warned area move to higher ground immediately.
Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate
precautions to protect life and property.
