Watches & Warnings

Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 3:30 AM CDT May. 25, 2019 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch now in effect through Sunday morning...

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* portions of Kansas and Missouri, including the following
areas, in Kansas, Atchison KS, Doniphan, Johnson KS,
Leavenworth, Linn KS, Miami, and Wyandotte. In Missouri,
Adair, Andrew, Atchison MO, Bates, Buchanan, Caldwell,
Carroll, Cass, Clay, Clinton, Daviess, De Kalb, Gentry,
Grundy, Harrison, Holt, Jackson, Johnson MO, Lafayette, Linn
MO, Livingston, Mercer, Nodaway, Platte, Putnam, ray,
Schuyler, Sullivan, and Worth.

* Through Sunday morning

* ongoing rain showers and thunderstorms will taper off Saturday
morning before additional storm development is possible by the
late afternoon and evening hours. An additional one to two
inches of rainfall are expected through Sunday morning, with
locally higher amounts possible. These storms will produce heavy
rainfall over areas that are already saturated from recent
storms.

* Low-lying and flood-prone areas will be most susceptible to
the dangers of flash flooding. Areas near rivers, creeks, and
streams will likely become flooded during and immediately
after heavy rainfall. Be very careful if driving at night as
flood water are very hard to see.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
