Heat Advisory
Issued: 8:31 PM EDT Jul. 16, 2019 – National Weather Service

... Heat advisory remains is in effect from 11 am to 7 PM EDT
Wednesday...

* heat index values... ranging from 105 to 109 by midday Wed and
continuing thru the afternoon into the early evening hours. This
the result of temperatures climbing to the mid to upper 90s and
dewpoints in the 70 to 75 range.

Along the coast, temperatures may only reach the 90 to 95
range but dewpoints will climb to the upper 70s to around 80
after the passage of the sea breeze inland.

* Impacts... the heat and humidity may cause heat stress during
outdoor exertion or extended exposure that could lead to heat
exhaustion or worse yet, heat stroke.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible.

If outdoors, drink plenty of fluids to stay well hydrated and
wear light weight and light colored clothing. It's also
recommended to take occasional to frequent rest breaks in shaded
or an air conditioned environment. In addition, be sure to check
on those who are most vulnerable to the heat such as Young
children and the elderly.

Ensure all outdoor pets and livestock have access to fresh water
and a well ventilated and shaded area during the hottest portions
of the day. And... never... leave children or pets in a closed up
vehicle during the day, temperatures could quickly climb to 120
degrees in a manner of minutes.
