Issued: 11:42 AM EDT Jul. 22, 2019 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through late tonight...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of southwest Virginia and West Virginia, including
the following areas, in southwest Virginia, Buchanan and
Dickenson. In West Virginia, Boone, Logan, McDowell, Mingo,
northwest Fayette, northwest Nicholas, northwest Pocahontas,
northwest Raleigh, northwest Randolph, northwest Webster,
southeast Fayette, southeast Nicholas, southeast Pocahontas,
southeast Raleigh, southeast Randolph, southeast Webster, and
Wyoming.

* Through late tonight

* rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected today with high

over the past 24 hours has made portions of the northern and
central mountains of West Virginia sensitive to additional
rainfall.

* Flooding of urban and poor drainage areas will be possible. In
addition, flooding of small creeks and streams could occur
people residing near creeks and streams should monitor the
forecast and be prepared to take immediate action if flooding
occurs.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
