No significant rain for over forty days with high temps and hot wind has pretty much dried up the non irrigated corn in our area.

Brilliant blue sky, contrasting with that sorry withered corn. Great weather reporting shot, Kim. Congratulations on the VIP placement.

I like it. Very good shot. Unfortunate reality, the lack of rain for farmers.

Our farm lost all 159 acres of corn planted this year to the drought conditions in south central Illinois, a total bust. The worst drought conditions in the area since 1983. Very nicely shown, AC congrats!

In central OH, the corn and the soybeans on non irrigated farms are all dried up also. It's so sad to see. Congrats on a very moving pic of whats happening to the farmers this year.

Thanks everyone for stopping by to share your thoughts. And thank you to the Approvers for the blue border. Yes so dry in much of the states and we're not exempt from the fire situation here on the plains either, some of my friends in the northern part of the state have lost their homes and farming equipment. Post lots of pictures of rain so we don't forget what it looks like.

Oh, dang, Kim...this is a sad sight...well captured,
but sad. I am praying for rain for everyone,
and though it may be too late fro the crops,
good, soaking rain will help some of the
wildlife that is suffering, as well. I hope
you get rain soon, so I don't have to do my
rain dance..it's not pretty!
Congratulations on your AC, Kim!

Our drought in northern Indiana has finally broken this week, but too late for all the damage that has been done to crops.

Oh man. That's a real shame about the crops. So dry there yet such a rainy summer in the UK. Where's the balance?

About ruralartist
ruralartist My husband gave me a camera for Christmas a few years back and I am still trying to make the best use of it. After working in black and white as a graphite artist for many years, I have finally found a way to capture what's happening in that massive expanse up there. And the light it casts on things down below.
