Hail the size of tennis balls hammered Munich and southern Germany on Monday, injuring several people and damaging cars, businesses and homes.

The injured included a 7-year-old boy, according to The Local, which showed photos of broken windows and siding blown off buildings.

“Chunks of ice were hitting us like gunshots,” one motorist told German news agency dpa, according to the Independent. “In the towns, you could see roof tiles on the street. The streets were green with broken-off branches and leaves.”

Several homes and roads were also flooded.

The large hail was a rare sight for local residents, who took to social media to post videos and photos.
