Special Statement
Issued: 3:41 PM AKDT Sep. 20, 2019 – National Weather Service

... Snow expected Saturday above 2000 feet...

Snow is expected Saturday above 2000 feet across the eastern
interior, with 1 to 2 inches of accumulation possible above 2000
feet. This could cause some snow to accumulate on higher summits
of the Steese, Elliott, Parks, and Richardson highways on
Saturday.

In the Alaska Range above 3000 feet, between 4 and 6 inches of
snow is possible between tonight and Saturday night.

A strong cold front will sweep east across the eastern interior
on Saturday, causing a cold rain in valley locations. Expect
temperatures to fall during the day on Saturday, along with west
winds gusting to 25 mph. Along with this front, snow levels will
drop from 3500 feet at midnight tonight down to 2000 feet during
the day Saturday. Snow could fall as low as 1500 feet on Saturday,
but no accumulation is expected below 2000 feet.
